CHILD-CENTERED PLAY THERAPY SUPERVISION

At the heart of both Child-Centered Play Therapy is the belief that growth and healing happen within the safety of a trusted relationship. Our supervision approach honors this by creating a space where supervisees feel deeply seen, heard, and accepted—just as we strive to do for the children and families we serve. In Person-Centered Supervision, the relationship between supervisor and supervisee is foundational. Rather than focusing solely on techniques or outcomes, we emphasize the process—your development as a whole person and a play therapist. We trust that when supported with authenticity and warmth, you’ll find your own voice, clinical wisdom, and confidence in the therapy room.

We center our work together on three core conditions:

  • Unconditional Positive Regard
You are accepted fully, without judgment. Supervision is a space where you don’t need to be perfect or perform. You’re welcomed as you are—growing, learning, struggling, and succeeding. This acceptance lays the foundation for honest reflection and meaningful growth.

  • Empathy
We strive to understand your experiences from your perspective. By deeply listening with care and curiosity, supervision becomes a place where you feel heard and understood—not just as a therapist, but as a human navigating the emotional landscape of therapeutic work.

  • Congruence
Authenticity is key. As a supervisor, I bring my real self into the room—transparent, honest, and grounded. This models the genuine presence we aim to offer children in play therapy, and invites you to do the same. Together, we build trust through honesty and mutual respect.

This supervision approach is especially aligned with Child-Centered Play Therapy, where relationship, acceptance, and trust form the core of the therapeutic process. Our work together mirrors the therapeutic stance we take with children—creating a parallel process that supports your integration of theory into practice. Whether you're new to play therapy or deepening your expertise, Person-Centered Supervision offers a nurturing and reflective space to explore your work, grow your confidence, and stay connected to your purpose.
