CHILD CENTERED PLAY THERAPY SUPERVISION

At the heart of Child-Centered Play Therapy is the understanding that growth and healing occur within the safety of a trusted relationship. My approach to supervision reflects this same belief by creating a space where supervisees feel deeply seen, heard, and accepted—just as we strive to do for the children and families we serve.
In Person Centered Supervision, the supervisory relationship itself is foundational. Rather than focusing solely on techniques, outcomes, or performance, supervision emphasizes the process—your development as a whole person and as a play therapist. When supported with authenticity, warmth, and respect, supervisees are able to discover their own clinical voice, deepen their wisdom, and grow in confidence in the therapy room.

This supervision is intended for clinicians who are actively practicing Child-Centered Play Therapy and seeking deeper reflection on therapist presence, core conditions, and the play process.

Core Conditions Guiding Supervision

Our work together is grounded in three core conditions that parallel Child Centered Play Therapy practice:

Unconditional Positive Regard

You are accepted fully and without judgment. Supervision is not a space for perfection or performance. You are welcomed as you are—learning, questioning, struggling, and growing. This acceptance creates the foundation for honest reflection and meaningful professional development.

Empathy

Supervision is grounded in a genuine effort to understand your experiences from your perspective. Through careful listening, curiosity, and emotional presence, supervision becomes a place where you feel understood—not only as a clinician, but as a human navigating the emotional demands of therapeutic work.

Congruence

Authenticity matters. As a supervisor, I bring my real, grounded self into supervision—transparent, honest, and present. This models the genuine presence we aim to offer children in play therapy and invites you to do the same. Trust develops through honesty, consistency, and mutual respect.

A Parallel Process for Growth

This supervisory approach is especially aligned with Child Centered Play Therapy, where relationship, acceptance, and trust form the core of the therapeutic process. Supervision intentionally mirrors the stance we take with children, creating a parallel process that supports the integration of theory into lived clinical practice.

Whether you are new to play therapy or deepening your expertise, Child Centered Play Therapy supervision offers a nurturing, reflective space to explore your work, strengthen your confidence, and remain connected to your purpose as a play therapist.
