GRADUATE STUDENT SUPERVISION

Practicum & Internship

I provide clinical supervision for graduate counseling students completing practicum or internship requirements. My approach to supervision is grounded in the Integrated Developmental Model (IDM), which recognizes that counselors grow in identifiable stages as they move from novice to more advanced levels of practice.
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, IDM allows supervision to be responsive to where you are developmentally—your current skills, confidence level, self-awareness, and clinical demands. Whether you are just beginning to work with clients or stepping into more complex clinical responsibilities, supervision is tailored to support your growth while maintaining appropriate structure, accountability, and support.

Supervision is collaborative and reflective, with attention to both skill development and use of self. Through guided reflection, feedback, and discussion of clinical material, supervision is intended to help you develop into a thoughtful, ethical, and authentic clinician.

Supervision at this stage emphasizes foundational clinical skills, case conceptualization, professional identity development, and ethical decision-making within a supportive, developmentally appropriate structure.

Areas of Focus in Supervision

Supervision may include attention to the following areas, based on your developmental level and practicum/internship requirements:
-
Clinical interventions and skill development
-
Assessment and understanding of clients
-
Interpersonal process and use of self in therapy
-
Case conceptualization
-
Diversity, culture, and contextual factors
-
Counseling theory and application
-
Treatment planning, goals, and documentation
-
Professional ethics and professional development

The balance of structure, guidance, and autonomy will shift over time as your competence and confidence increase.
